GERMAL HANDY LASS - PUPPY

Puppy was the first Border Collie to be registered in Croatia. I bought her in 1995 in Kent, England, and she was both ISDS and Kennel Club registered.

I trained her mostly for agility, but her greatest love is herding, at which she excels. She also does flyball and obedience - she is a truly versatile bitch.
Puppy is one of the dogs to have won most agility trophies in Croatia. When she was already over 10 years old she won the Croatian agility Championship and became Croatian Champion in Large for 2005. A fitting title with which to end her agility career.

Being bred out of pure working (herding) lines, Puppy possesses a strong herding instinct, and together with her I learned a lot about sheep dogs. I also discovered how much I like this type of work with dogs and just how fascinating is the inborn instinct which Border Collies possess.

I also trained competitive obedience with Puppy on a fairly regular basis, while she was still too young for agility. Although I no longer train obedience with her, she quickly remembers all the exercises when we need to demonstrate something.

Among many of her top results, I personally value best her bronze medal for the agility run at the Agility World Championships "Dortmund 1999"; her 2nd place at "European Open 2002", and her 2nd place in one of the first sheepdog trials in which she participated, in Weelde, Belgium, 2000.

Puppy died on 24 February 2011 at almost 16 years of age.
